I have been knitting! Well, I never quit knitting, I just quit posting about knitting.
I got the urge to finish some socks. Sock knitting has been my companion during study times for this last semester of schooling. I will complete my bachelor’s degree in business on July 21. I am looking forward to not having to do homework for the first time in seven years. Yes, you heard that right. Seven years! Can you imagine how much knitting I might be able to get done if I am not doing homework. Or let us frame this correctly, how much I can knit when I do not have the computer screen and textbooks in front of my knitting.
The socks I finished are what I am calling the Purple Blitz socks.
- I used a size 0 needle on magic loop.
- The yarn is Regia Blitz Color, color #2527 and I used some generic white sock yarn for the cuff and heels.
- I knit these toe-up, then used the Easy Peasy No Wrap Heel (Ravelry) pattern for the heels. I am not too fond of the heel as there were holes where the expanding section joined the decreases, and I did not like that. I sewed the holes up as I was weaving in the ends where the yarn changed. I might try that heel again, but no guarantees.
Once I finished the Purple Blitz socks I saw where the Crazy Sock Lady was hosting a Summer Sock Camp and I could not resist joining in. I started a pair of socks on June 2 and completed them on June 17, 2021.
These socks are from one of the West Yorkshire Spinners Christmas colorways in Robin. So of course, the name I gave the socks is “Robin.”
- Size 0 Addi Flexiflips2. Can I tell you that I love these needles? I will be using them again at some point in the not-too-distant future.
- WYS, color Robin and Poppy (600) for the cuff, heels, and toes.
I have also been putting in some work on the Jelly Roll Blanket (Ravelry) by Kay Jones from the Bakery Bears. I did not need to start another blanket, I have two on the needles/hooks right now, but I could not resist joining in for her Jelly Roll Blanket KAL. I am using leftover sock yarn and minis from Advent kits from the past couple of years. I am guesstimating that it is about 60 inches long. I thought I would do it, so it goes across the body instead of up and down the body. I guess we will see how far I get with what I have.
What are you working on?
Make it a great knitting day!
Wow, you have been busy!! Love the socks, I’m such a slow sock knitter, Since I started the Crazy Sock Lady’s summer sock camp I’m still working on my first sock. I’m just starting the heel, lol, hope I get at least one pair done before the end of August ;p. I love the flexi flips, I use them for sock toes and hat crowns. I like to use the 9” circs for socks and sleeves for baby sweaters.
