I finished this Bits and Bobs scarf that I started in January using the blanket pattern by Kay F. Jones. I know this wasn’t on the list of things I needed to work on, but I couldn’t resist casting on this scarf to use some of my Advent minis and a skein of Cascade Heritage 150 that I had ready to use. Plus, new and shiny!
This is the baby blanket from the last post which only needed about four inches of knitting to be complete. Yeah! One more thing off the needles, but then there are other nieces and nephews that are expecting new little ones and blankets need to be completed for them.
I did start and finish this blanket also. It is the same pattern that I used for the pink blanket and all the others blankets I done for the great-nieces and nephews. This is what I was working on during reading my school assignments during January. I think this is why I was able to complete this whole afghan in one month. I have started what will be the sixth of this pattern which will get some work as it is a mindless knit for studying.
On Friday my husband had made some treats which we delivered to friends. I waited in the car while he did the deliveries and at one home I was asked to come in. The family had been cleaning out and decided that I needed to be the owner of a spinning wheel that they owned. This wheel had been purchased by the wife’s father at a flea market in Linz Austria over 40 years ago.
This wheel is in need of some repair, as is another wheel I have, so I will be looking for someone that will be able to repair both wheels.
My husband told the friend, “Just as some people collect stray people or animals, Laura collects spinning wheels.” I thought that statement was pretty funny, but oh so true. This wheel is the eighth one in my possession now. I think that when the right wheel comes along, it just knows I will welcome it with open arms and a chance to play with it. Do spinning wheels seem to find their way into your life?
Make it a great knitting day!
