I’ve been on a journey that has taken seven years.
Seven years of:
- finding time to do homework
- meeting new friends
- group projects
- midnight deadlines
- frustrations from not understanding something
- asking Jim to proofread my homework assignments
- leaving family/group gatherings early
- watching my hard work pay off
- noticing my GPA increase from what it was when I got my Associates
- finding proctors for exams
- so many little challenges
- lots of times watching the hand of the Lord in my life as everything comes together in the end.
I express my thanks to everyone that has helped me along this journey!
Now that my schooling is completed, I am trying to figure out a schedule to accomplish life tasks again. This includes regular updates to the blog, sewing time, spinning time, and of course, knitting time. Knitting time has never really disappeared as that is what keeps me sane, but I have not shared what I have been working on or finished on a regular basis. These updates will be a what I focus on now.
I have been working on and completing several pairs of socks over the summer for Summer Sock Camp hosted by the Crazy Sock Lady. This pair I knit one at a time and when I bound off the second sock discovered that I had knit it ten rows shorter than the first sock, so I had to unpick the bind off, rip out the ribbing, and knit those ten more rows. Then I reknit the ribbing and bound off again. Hopefully, who I have designated these socks to go to will appreciate the effort involved.
We made a quick trip to Utah the middle of July for the funeral of my father-in-law. While we were there, I gifted a cowl to a co-worker who will be retiring the end of August. I wanted to see her reaction to the cowl instead of just mailing it to her. I chose correctly! The bright colors worked well with her personality and style. I think that the cowl will get a lot of use from her during the winters there in Utah.
This cowl was made of leftovers from previous projects. I used a skein of black sock yarn to keep the cowl looking consistent. I used the Helix method to knit the cowl so that there would not be an obvious jog when changing from one color to the next. This was the project that lived in the car until it was completed.
I have made progress on my Jelly Roll blanket by Kay Jones. Granted, it isn’t very much progress, but it is some. This project sits by my computer and is what I work on when surfing the web or watching YouTube videos. It will get finished……eventually.
Until next time, make it a great knitting day!
