When I had been out visiting kids and grandkids in October, one granddaughter asked me to make her a new sweater. The one that I had given her four years ago was now too small. Sunday when we had our family Zoom call, she asked about her sweater…….. I had to cast one on for her!
Her favorite colors are purple, pink, and teal. I had all of these yarns in my stash and thought they would look good enough together to get H her new sweater.
The main color is a Patons Canadiana yarn which I was given by a friend when she was clearing out the yarn that her mother had. It is a lovely rich purple. The pink is Patons North America Decor yarn in color 1658 Rich Rose that I purchased at Dollar Tree three, almost four, years ago. This yarn was left over from the BeeKeeper (Ravelry) cardigan that I made in 2018. The teal is leftovers from another friend. It is a Hobby Lobby yarn that she had made hats with but still had a little leftover which she gave to me about two years ago.
As an aside, I like to collect leftovers from others as I get a chance to try yarns that I might not otherwise get to use. I then use these yarns to create projects such as this sweater.
While watching the College Bowl game from Monday night, I cast on a sleeve from the Heart on My Sleeve: Knit With Care collection (Ravelry) that was published in 2017 with the funds being donated to the Against Malaria Foundation. I am knitting the Crazy Heart pattern for this little girl. Her mom says a size 4 for circumference and size 6 for length.
I was able to cast on and knit the cuff and the tiny little heart motif along the cuff. Now to see if I can get the rest of the sweater to her before it gets too hot in Utah for her to wear it this year and still keep pace on all my other wips.
