New Year, New Projects

Posted on January 29, 2024

It is hard to believe it is the end of January already. January has absolutely flown by. Christmas came and went; we traveled to Utah and Idaho to spend some time with some of the kids, grandkids and my mother and aunt; we have had our old deck demolished and a new one constructed; and we are planning visits for the next few months to other parents, kids, and grandkids.

I have been busy knitting which is a given as I am never without a project. On the flight to Utah, I finished a pair of Fairground Socks (Ravelry) which is a pattern by Kay F. Jones. I started, and have since finished, a generic pair of fingerless mitts that are coming in handing with the temperatures dropping in the last couple of days. I have started another test knit for Anne B. Hanssen for a colorwork, circular yoked sweater which will be released in March. I have also cast on a generic cowl which I am working on when I don’t want to think.

I still have many WIPs that I am working on which include my take on the Jelly Roll Blanket (Ravelry) which is another pattern by Kay F. Jones; my take on the Falling Snow Christmas Stocking (Ravelry) which I am doing in a now discontinued yarn from Berroco, I’m planning on making a lot of these to give in the future; and a pair of 64 stitch vanilla socks. I do have a sweater that I made for my mom which I have to extend the sleeves and body length on. I just have to take out the binding and rip the ribbing back, then knit an additional two/three inches and re-bind-off. It will not take long, I just have to wrap my mind around doing it and then do it.

Until the next time, make it a great knitting day!

So good to see you blogging again! I just finished a very bulky hat for my son in law out of their alpaca. The one I made him before was a little tight, so a new one it was. Now that the hat is finished, I can spin a tweed fiber that is so pretty, can hardly wait to get a second bobbin done and ply it :). My son is spinning now on a EEW 6 electric wheel. He seems to like it. It is a printed wheel with a motor added, it works pretty well. There are reviews on YouTube.
