I’ve been busy at work moving our center from a temporary location, where we have been for the past four years, back into where we were before the Washington DC Temple was closed for renovations in 2018. There has been a lot of hurry-up-and-wait time since the open house ended the first part of June. We are now open many more hours than we have been for the past two years. I like being busier, although I have been extremely tired by the end of the shift Saturday nights.
The end of May, J and K brought their family down to go through the Washington DC Temple open house. We got to have each of the older kids spend a night at our house to spend some one-on-one time with Granma and Grandpa. This was quite fun for us…… I got to do a craft project with the child and Grandpa spent time with them in the kitchen making breakfast.
At the beginning of June we brought two grandkids out for their 10 year old visit with Granma and Grandpa. We spent time visiting Hershey Park, Fort McHenry, the Manassas Battlefield, and many Smithsonian Museums. I know that memories were made and hope that they will remember them for many years to come.
On July 6th I made an emergency trip to Phoenix as R had been in a motorcycle accident. I spent a number of days there while he was in the hospital. We were supposed to have a family reunion the middle of July and didn’t want to cancel it for everyone, so I took R and A girls with me to the reunion. I forgot how hard it was to have little kids around all the time. We thoroughly enjoyed spending the time with them which allowed their dad to focus on healing. By the time I returned to Phoenix with the girls, R was home from the hospital unable to work due to a TBI. He is alive, well, and anxious to return to work. There will be ongoing memory issues, the accident will probably never be remembered, and legal battles, to get compensation from the person who caused the wreck, and we are all thankful that we still have a son/brother/uncle/fiancé/friend here on earth with us. I am thankful every day that R was wearing a helmet and had a motorcycle vest on.
Are you still with me?
Now to the knitting content. I started a test knit on August 14 for a pattern that will be released around September 20.
I have both sleeves finished waiting to be joined to the body which is only about one inch from being completed. I am loving the colorway. It is a yarn dyed by The Yarnbrary which I purchased in Utah in 2018. There were four skeins just waiting in the stash for the perfect project. I am looking forward to having this sweater finished and being able to wear it this coming winter.
I have almost finished another sweater also. This one has been on the needles since about 2017. I am trying to work down the WIPs that are all over the house, as well as work on Christmas gift knitting for the grandkids.
Hopefully, I will be able to keep up a little better and share some of the projects I am loving a bit more frequently. Until next time, make it a great knitting day!
Good to see you blogging again :). I bet the DC Temple is beautiful. I am waiting as well for the SLC Temple to be done, not that I live close to SLC it’s just an iconic Temple 😛 These long renovations seem like forever :P. I’m waiting to eventually hear they will build a small Temple in my midwest stake area, I’d go much more often, like in TN, the Nashville Temple was in Franklin about 7 min from where I lived!
So glad your son is doing well sorry that he will have a longer healing time, but glad he’s alive. Things like that are so scary!
Now that my foot is better I need to start spinning again and finish the last bit on the 1st bobbin and start the 2nd bobbin on the fractal spin. I also need to be working on the hats I knit up every year and I have a baby sweater I need to get started on. I’m in the Primary presidency in my ward and they are keeping us busy! My grandson is in his first year of football at school and I live very close to his school so he pops over after practice everyday for a cold drink and some food lol. I’m so happy to spend the time with him, they grow up so fast.
