The projects I’m working on right now have seen a lot of progress as I have been home for the past three days. Thursday night, when I left work, hubby said he had an appointment to get tested on Friday. With that, I knew I wouldn’t be able to go to work Friday or Saturday as the results will not be available until 24 hours after taking the test. This means I got a lot of knitting time!
I worked on my Jelly Roll Blanket, my Freckled Whimsy Advent Socks, and the sweater I started on Monday for H.
The Jelly Roll saw an increase of six colors which equated to one and a half strips. This project saw the most work as it was by the computer and I do not have to think about it at all. I can watch shows and knit without having to stop and think where I am. For this reason, it received the most focus this week. There is something to be said for garter stitch. It is very comforting to knit and watch grow in length.
The second project to see some work is the Advent Socks from Freckled Whimsy. I had worked just to where the heel needed to be done when I put this project down, marked by the plastic locking stitch marker. This week, I was able to knit the heel and continue down the foot for 43 rounds. That means that all that is left on this sock is 17 rounds of the foot and then the toe. It would be nice to see this sock done and joining it’s mate in the gift box. I thought these would be for me but when I tried them on they were just a little too short in the foot.
One thing that I need to consider when making socks for myself is which heel and toe works best for the shape of my foot. I am finding that I really like the Umbrella heel and toe for Kay Jones pattern after the same name (Ravelry). That heel just seems to fit my foot better than the short-row heel that this sock has. Also, I like the rounded toe of the Umbrella socks better than the wedge toe of this sock. This pair will make a great gift sock for one of the kids or grandkids.
The sleeve has seen a little bit of progress since Wednesday, but I had to stop as I had not heard back from Mom as to the length H would need on her sleeves. I did get seven and a half inches of the sleeve completed before stopping and now that I have heard back from Mom as to the length, I can add this sweater into the rotation for more work on it. In fact, it might be what I work on for the rest of the evening and tomorrow for Zoom knitting group.
I am liking the amount of projects that I am working on at the time. Three seems to be just right. The socks are using a size 0 needle, the Jelly Roll a size 2, and the sleeve is on a size 6 now that the cuff is completed which was on a size 4. My hands have not been giving me too much trouble with the small needles but just in case, I am taking Aleve and using my arthritis gels on my hands when I knit. My hands hurting also depends on how much knitting I do accomplish in a day.
Until next time, make it a great knitting day!
